Picasso Museum, Paris: Drawings, Watercolors, Gouaches, and Pastels (English and French Edition) Details

From Library Journal This companion to The Picasso Museum, Paris: Paintings, Papier Colles, Picture Reliefs, Sculptures, and Ceramics (Abrams, 1986) covers the museum's collection of works on paper. Over 1500 works are recorded and reproduced in reduced scale in black and white; a few selected items are illustrated in full-page color. The catalog is organized into chronological sections with brief narrative text preceding individual works and their documentation, with small reproductions of related works and relevant biographical items occasionally provided. While the book is not visually dynamic, considering the rich range of art covered or the artist involved, its basic function as a permanent collection catalog is salutary. Most academic and research libraries will need it, and many public libraries should have it as well, since the Picasso Museum has become one of Paris's major tourist attractions.- Paula A.
